About the Event

High School Seniors and College Freshmen: Do you like free food, snacks, and making money? Do you want to learn how to make the most out of your freshmen year? The Workshop is a full day of engaging and interactive seminars consisting of three sessions:


Featuring Shelley Outten the founder of Oasis Home Spaces helping us to maximize the potential of our living space, organize and decorate. Also Featuring Dedra Blount of "Now You’re Cooking" who will host a top chef competition teaching us to make healthy, tasty meals on a college student budget. Appearance from representatives of Food bank of southeastern VA.

Session Two: “ME, MYSELF AND I”

This workshop focuses on sex and safety, self-care, self-defense, and self-confidence. We will cover physical, emotional and spiritual health how to maintain health habits in these areas and how to recognize warning signs. Featuring Keisha Brown, Dr. Maxie Lee, Dr. Stacey Otey Scott, Fitness trainers from Greenbrier YMCA and Coach Antwain Britt of Britts personal training and self-defense. 

Session Three: “ADULTING 101”

In this workshop we will learn about time and money management. We will also learn about assertiveness, soft skills, and etiquette. Students will even have the opportunity to open up a student checking account onsite. We will get tips from current educators on study skills, test-taking tricks, note taking and all the tools needed for academic success. Featuring community leaders such as Barbara Hamm Lee, Dr. Melody Williams, JT & Britney Hasty and more. We will end the workshop with a time of Q & A offered be our panelists from TCC, CNU, ODU, NSU, Hampton, Elizabeth City State, and Regent University. Students will even get the opportunity to connect with campus ministers from each of the campuses and form connections before they land on campus. 


A closing dinner followed by message followed by a time of blessing and commissioning from our very own Pastor Alvin Georges! Food and drinks will be provided.
